A journey through the Arctic Tipping Points

Join the Abel Tasman on a journey through the 6 Arctic Tipping Points.

The Arctic is home to 6 of the 16 Global Tipping Points – critical thresholds that represent the limit of Planetary Boundaries. When crossed, large-scale abrupt and irreversible changes occur, with resulting impacts on both people and nature.

Through this expedition, we have a unique opportunity to bring this vital science to light. Along the way our crew will be also collecting crucial data on ocean plastics, eDNA, and acoustics to document the richness of Arctic biodiversity and determine the impact of climate change and human influence on this remote wilderness, in partnership with The Ocean Race, Nature Metrics and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC).

Onboard is a world-class team of explorers, including award-winning filmmakers and sound designer, expert paragliders and divers, passionate young climate scientists and storytellers – all united by a shared mission to highlight the 6 Arctic Tipping Points and the critical importance of the Arctic.
