World Ocean Day – Come Celebrate with Us!
To celebrate World Ocean Day, join us on Wednesday, June 8, as we hear from founders solving ocean problems at Start-Up Yard at COVE’s Business Over Breakfast.
Speakers:
Ross Arsenault, Co-founder & COO, Ashored Innovations (ashored.ca) – Ross is a Saint Mary’s University alum and participated in MassChallenge. Ashored develops sustainability-enabling technologies for the commercial fishing industry.
Sabrena MacKenzie, Co-founder & CEO, SeaChange BioChemistry (seachangebiochemistry.com) – Sabrena is formerly a scientist with the National Research Council with 15 years of experience in biomass extraction. SeaChange has developed an environmentally friendly and proprietary process to extract multiple high value compounds from seaweed and other biomasses.
Sheamus MacDonald, Co-founder & CEO, Sedna Technologies (sednatech.io) – Sheamus is a graduate of the aquatic resources management program at St. Francis Xavier University and has a master’s degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland in marine studies; fisheries resource management. Sedna is a fisheries technology firm with a focus to increase the traceability of seafood products by creating innovative and simple-to-use software solutions for exporters, processors, distributors and harvesters involved in international and domestic trade.
Geoff Lebans, Founder & CEO, Rising Tide BioAcoustics – Geoff is an ocean technology professional/engineer with 37 years’ experience. Geoff has co-owned two companies acquired by multinationals – Brooke Ocean Technology (now part of Rolls-Royce) and GeoSpectrum Technologies (now owned by Ebit Systems). Geoff’s new company, Rising Tide, provides acoustic systems for fish deterrence, guidance and attraction, marine mammal deterrence, and control/eradication of invasive species.
