European Union Think Civil Program Project named “Clean Ocean, Clean Future” of Antalya Underwater Association

Within the scope of the “Clean Ocean, Clean Future” Project prepared by the Antalya Underwater Association; 20 young people will be given diving training. An underwater cleaning team will be established with the participation of our young people and members who have received diving training. The first underwater cleaning event will be held on May 22, 2022. At the event, our Underwater Cleaning Team, environmental NGOs and environmental volunteer citizens will perform underwater and coastal cleaning at Antalya Kaleiçi Marina. A short film and a virtual exhibition of underwater garbage will be prepared using the project event footage.

Since our country is surrounded by seas on three sides, marine pollution is of vital importance. Events such as the gradual decrease in number and species of creatures living in our seas and inland waters, mucilage; are the most important indicators of pollution.

Our project will raise awareness about sea pollution in the public. It will emphasize that marine pollution negatively affects the life of many living species. It will affect our youth to be more sensitive about the issue and to take an active role in civil society activities. With the message “Clean Sea, Clean Future” to our young people who will participate in our work; “As future generations, we young people have the right to live in a healthy and balanced environment. We should also play a role for clean seas.” We expect them to adopt this approach.

Clean Sea, Clean Future Project activities, non-governmental organizations and the public; We want it to establish new networks, make our voices heard by the public, influence citizens to become a part of the fight against marine pollution, and create new synergies.
