This is an exhibition of the work undertaken over the last year by the Holme valley Sharing Memories Group, an arts & well being group that aims to alleviate isolation and loneliness amongst the elderly. They have been working for a year on an Arts Council funded project, making the various elements of this interactive seascape, all from recycled materials. The installation showcases the deep issues that our oceans are facing due to pollution and aims also to educate about reuse and recycling of materials. The project has involved circa 10 Sharing Memories members all in their 80’s & 90’s, led by 3 community artists, joining forces weekly with various schools in the valley as well as day care centres for adults with learning disabilities and mental illness. It is a true community project.
