Katheti invites you to the screening of the mini-documentary “Saving Poros” by independent journalist and documentarist Francesco De Augustinis, on Thursday, 8th June 2023, at 6 pm at the municipal building, Syggrou. In 9 minutes, director Francesco De Augustinis outlines the severe threat posed by the plan to drastically expand the industrial fish farms on Poros island through revelatory facts and interviews. The film is accompanied by an in-depth investigative report covering Francesco’s extensive research and interviews across Spain and Greece. The video also includes firsthand new footage comparing the dead seabed near the existing farm on Poros with the biodiverse one elsewhere on the island.
On the 8th of June, World Ocean Day, the screening of the short film “Saving Poros” – an initiative of Katheti in cooperation with the Municipality of Poros, Committee to Save Poros, the Professional Fishermen’s Association of Troizinia-Methana, Ec(h)o, the Commercial and Professional Association of Poros, and the Rauch Foundation – sets out to raise awareness amongst Poros’ residents, Greece and the world of the detrimental effects of large-scale industrial fish farms on local environments and livelihoods.

An independent journalist and documentarist, Francesco De Augustinis, has 10+ years of experience in food and environmental issues. In 2019, Francesco founded the independent media project on sustainability, One-Earth.it. Since 2021, Francesco has worked on projects about industrial fish farming around Europe, Africa, and South America. His full bio can be found here.
