Beginning on World Oceans Day on June 8, we start our annual Manta Trawls on our traditional sailing vessel Albin Köbis. Our berth is Flensburg and we will sail the Flensburg Fjord, the Schlei and the Danish South Sea. The aim is to take as many samples as possible from the sea and to pull microplastics out of the sea for further investigations by means of fine-meshed nets specially made for this purpose. For this purpose, we use nets specially made for us, which we pull behind our ship on a wooden frame at 2.5 knots for half an hour.
We do this for a week on different cruises.
Interested groups can contact Lauren and Caro from “Weniger Ist Meer” (https://www.weniger-ist-meer.com/) and us – www.albinkoebis.de. We still have openings to do trawls.
