Marine Litter Monitoring and Beach Cleanup @ Albarquel Beach

17 June, 2023 @ 9:30 am - 1:00 pm WEST

This event is promoted by APLM – the Portuguese Marine Litter Association. Our mission is to protect the environment against the impacts of litter, specially plastic, in marine and ocean ecosystems and in estuaries waterways and their margins; to raise awareness and promote co-responsibility towards sustainable consumption values, citizenship, solidarity and environmental protection.

After a briefing for context, regarding its origins and impacts, marine litter will be counted and registered by volunteers in check lists adapted from the OSPAR Marine Litter master list, and including items/fragments  smaller than 2.5 cm. A beach clean-up will take place as all litter items will be removed and disposed of in appropriate recycling bins.

This event is open to the public (not launched on social media yet).
