Mbezi Beach Shoreline, nestled within Dar es Salaam’s Kinondoni Municipality, is a crucial coastal area known for fishing and recreation, attracting locals and tourists alike. Yet, this pristine environment faces a grave threat from plastic pollution and marine debris, endangering both the ecosystem and human health. Engaging the community and fostering collaboration are crucial to addressing these challenges and preserving Mbezi Beach’s natural beauty.
In alignment with World Ocean Day and to tackle these issues, the Environmental Conservation Community of Tanzania (ECCT) and the Mbezi Beach Neighborhood are jointly organizing a community beach cleanup event at Mbezi Beach B, covering approximately 700 kilometers of coastline, on June 8, 2024, from 6 a.m to 12 p.m. We invite support from volunteers and resources to ensure the success of this event.
