As part of the “Ocean of Possibilities” summer theme at public libraries across the USA, you’re invited to join your local library in a variety of activities – from movies, games, music, books, or just hanging out with friends (online opportunities available as well!). Check out your local library to learn more – and here’s an event you won’t want to miss:
Celebrate all things water during our Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading program and join the experienced paddlers from the Lansing Oar and Paddle Club for an intro to the range of paddle sports in mid-Michigan.
From canoes to single, tandem, sit in/sit upon and fishing kayaks, sea kayaks — see different types, learn what makes them different, and what might be the best choice for you! Learn about safety on the water from Lansing Flotilla, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, plus classes, training, age ranges, gear, where to go, how to launch, group events or solo paddles. Outfitters Grand Kayak and Dimondale Canoe & Kayak will be on hand with some of their watercraft livery too!
LOAPC promotes interest in all aspects of human-powered watercraft in the mid-Michigan area. LOAPC has been actively involved in the greater Lansing community on river clean-ups and river-related projects and creates opportunities for people interested in canoeing and kayaking to meet other people with the same interests and grow and develop their sport.
