Protecting Spoon-billed Sandpiper in East China Sea 2021

Organized by

To celebrate the World Ocean Day 2021, we launched an outdoor art event (curated by the Nantongese sculptor Yonghua Tao) to raise the local awareness on protecting Spoon-billed Sandpiper in East China Sea on 4 June 2021. About 2021 local students from the Rudong Shiyan School participated in the event and formed the striking artistic design of a spoon-billed sandpiper. 68 local artist from the Yangtz River Delta also created 680 art works for the event which will be in tour in Shanghai, Suzhou, Nantong and Rudong.

By organising the event, we would like to deliver the message to the world that the young generation and artists in the Yangtze Delta are determined to preserve the local sea coast in Nantong which is the spoon-billed sandpiper’s breeding habitat.
