This year’s World Oceans Day Theme is The Ocean: “Life and Livelihoods”. Every year on 8 June is the day for the celebration of the world oceans.

The planned activities for World Oceans Day 2021 are Road Show and Zero Plastic World, Zero plastic Ocean.

SSEDC Activities to celebrate the World Oceans Day are Road Show and Zero Plastic World, Zero Plastic Ocean. During the Road Show the football team members of SDGs Youth Football Club will be picking single-used plastics on the roads and streets. The road show activity is Education and Entertainment known as Edutainment. So both activities can be called Edutainment and Environment that is education, entertainment and environmental activities. The Zero Plastic World, Zero Plastic Ocean is strategic advocacy and awareness raising about Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); particularity SDG14 and SDG 4.7. The main objective of the activities is to raise awareness and educate the general public about the world oceans day, ocean literacy, ocean science, UN Ocean Decade and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) while at the same time entertaining them with ocean decade songs to communicate about the ocean decade to the society.

The activities will encourage and enable citizens to embrace a more responsible mindset, behavior, providing knowledge and value towards the ocean, its health and preservation.

Ms. World United Nations, Queen Hadassah Ibinyingi Glorianna Allaputa.

Ms. World United Nations 2020. She is Ms. World United Nations Queen Ambassador, the first black African woman to win the Ms United Nations World in New Delhi, India over 51 Countries from around the world. She is the Director General of SDGs and Tourism Affairs Queens connect Africa, as well as the Nigerian Regional Coordinator of the Charted Institute of Leadership and Governance USA.

Queen Hadassah is known for her passion to add value to humanity. She will join us in our celebration of the United Nations World Oceans Day on 8 June, 2021. She hails from Bonny in Rivers State, Nigeria.
