The Ocean We Want: Life & Livelihood Lecture by the Ensenada Center for Scientific Research and Higher Education

Online Event

Organized by

In this conversation we will approach the fundamental topics related to this United Nations initiative. One question stands out: what kind of oceans do we want? Considering they are sources of life and livelihood, we need oceans to be productive, clean, predictable, and healthy. The topics we will discuss are fisheries, production methods, illegal fishing, resource management, and surveillance; plastics, hydrocarbons, and metals, as polluting sources; ocean modelling (numerical, biochemical, forecasts), and negative emergent trends such as temperature rise, acidification and deoxygenation. The conversation will be livestreamed, in Spanish, through CICESE’s Facebook fan page, on Wednesday, the 2nd of June.
