The event aims to address the lack of exposure and understanding among the youth
regarding the problems affecting our oceans. As the future leaders of our society, it is
crucial for young people in Barbados to comprehend the interconnectedness between
the ocean, humans, and health. The event will highlight the myriads of ways in which we
depend on the ocean, such as its role as a crucial regulator of air pollution, its function as a
vital water recycler, and the significance of coral reefs in sustaining fisheries and
contributing to potential medicinal drug discoveries. By understanding this connection,
participants will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to ocean
conservation.
The event will provide a platform for the youth of Barbados to learn. By increasing
awareness and understanding, we hope to inspire a sense of responsibility and drive
positive action, by sharing these lessons within their peer groups and communities.
