On Saturday, June 5, this virtual celebration will commemorate World Oceans Day and recognize three years’ worth of winners from BI’s Words on Water writing contest. (My poem “Lament of the North Atlantic Right Whale” won their poetry category in 2020.) The event will begin at 11:00 a.m. Eastern with a video featuring all of the winners reading excerpts of their winning works (including me reading “Lament”), followed by an afternoon of panel discussions where the prose writers, poets, and playwrights, where we’ll talk about what inspired our work and our concerns for the oceans and the environment.
And guess what? You can watch the readings and the panels for free! So if you’d like to tune in on Saturday, visit the link in my profile to find the links for watching the live streams on YouTube and Facebook.
