World Ocean Day 2021 Virtual Conference

Online Event

In 2021 the GHFS will collaborate with WWF-Guianas for the World Ocean Day 2021 virtual celebration, which will be held on June 8th, 2021, via Hopin. The primary focus of the World Ocean Day 2021 celebration will be the ocean and its importance to the health of our planet as well as the land-based sources of pollution and their adverse effects on ocean and human health. Thus, issues such as plastic pollution, freshwater pollution, and pollution from hydrocarbon exploitation and transportation at sea can be covered. We will also highlight how we can combat these issues and better protect our ocean.
A keynote speaker from abroad and local experts will discuss land-based sources of pollution and their adverse effects on the environment and human health and livelihoods, via live presentations and interactions with the audience. Virtual booths will be manned by partner organizations to inform the public about their work with regards to the topic of the event.
