An evening of conversation at RBC on Saturday 8 June with:
🔹Glassmakers Roberta Mason and Neil Wilkin
🌿 A representative from Project Seagrass
🌎 Alan Lovell, Chair of The Environment Agency
Glassmakers Roberta and Neil are evolving a sustainable and inspiring way of working and living on their smallholding in Wales, and volunteering with their local seagrass restoration project in Wales.
Seagrasses are flowering plants that live in the shallow, sheltered areas of our coast. They form dense, underwater meadows, supporting thousands of marine species, producing oxygen, storing carbon, stabilising our coastlines and keeping our ocean clean and clear. Yet, they are globally threatened and are facing significant loss around the world.
Drinks and substantial canapés will be available, made by Dominique Göltinger, head chef of Little Walcot in Frome, with sustainably-sourced ingredients.
Proceeds from the event will go to Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust’s Solent Seagrass Restoration Project. Roberta and Neil will also donate 10% of their earnings to seagrass restoration projects.
The event takes place on the last day of the summer exhibition at Rachel Bebb Contemporary, ‘Our Ocean’, so is an opportunity to see showcased works by Neil Bousfield RE, Merlyn Chesterman RE, Roberta Mason, Charlie Macpherson, Rebecca Newnham FRSS, Antonia Salmon, Neil Wilkin and more.
