Held annually on June 8, World Oceans Day encourages people around our blue planet to celebrate and honor the ocean, which connects us all. This year, The Maritime Aquarium is expanding this celebration with a week full of events and experiences including the Grand Opening of “Pinniped Cove,” our harbor seals’ enormous new exhibit!
For World Ocean Day, lots of happenings with The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk. First up, the Grand Opening of our newest and largest habitat — Pinniped Cove — for our five harbor seals. Activities all day long, including a special presentation by Carl Safina, to mark the occasion, which completes the largest capital construction project in our 33-year history. We end the day as one of three aquariums featured by The Explorers Club as part of their weeklong celebration of the ocean, in a virtual session, “Aquariums of the Future.” The Oceanarium, the Sydney Aquarium, and The Maritime Aquarium — quite an honor!
