World Ocean Day, June 8th, is an internationally celebrated day for people everywhere to unite, celebrate and take action for our shared blue planet. This annual event at the Greensboro Science Center for guests of all ages focuses on celebrating the wonders of the ocean, our connectedness with the ocean, and how we can all help protect the ocean. This event highlights the reduction of single-use plastics, reducing waste that impacts waterways, and the 30 by 30 Initiative to designate 30% of Earth’s land and ocean area as protected areas by 2030. World Oceans Day is celebrated as part of AZA’s Party for the Planet. Sponsored by NC 529 Plan, events run from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and are free with admission or membership.
