World Ocean Day Celebration at the New England Aquarium

1 June @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm EDT

The New England Aquarium is celebrating World Ocean Day with activities that bring attention to the importance of protecting the ocean for future generations. People of all ages are invited to Central Wharf on Saturday, June 1 to celebrate, learn about, and take action to protect our ocean.

Programming will be focused on our theme of “Connecting Communities, Empowering Actions for our Ocean”, highlighting our broader conservation community and how by working together we can make a bigger impact to ensure a healthy future for our ocean.  While June 8 traditionally marks World Ocean Day, the Aquarium is hoping to draw more families to Boston’s waterfront by offering weekend programming. This year we are expanding our offerings, partners and community members that work to protect our ocean, including Java with Jimmy, art from Bow Seat’s Ocean Awareness Program’s youth artists, the Massachusett Tribe at Ponkapoag, and more!

There will be a variety of programming available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both outside the aquarium and in the Simons Theater free to all and inside the aquarium for guests who purchase tickets. The Aquarium’s summer hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week. Tickets can be reserved in advance at neaq.org.

** Please note that during busy times such as weekends, guests are strongly encouraged to reserve tickets in advance as the Aquarium can sell out.
