This event will be held create awareness on how we can enhance participation of landlocked countries in the implementation of SDG 14. Our focus is on the contribution of the River Nile Basin to plastic pollution in the ocean.
We also traveled along with the Flipflopi Expedition, an advocacy movement led by the journey of a boat made out of recycled plastic, telling local stories through documentary films. We will be screening these documentaries for the first time and exhibiting the stories done by the 11 female journalists supported by InfoNile from Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania to produce data-driven stories on plastic pollution and solutions around Lake Victoria.
We will also be supporting young people to communicate science about plastic pollution in creative and engaging ways through a prize-based competition.
