Rachel Aluko (she/her) is a 19 year old social policy student at Northwestern University who will be representing the United States during her term. She is an avid human rights advocate who focuses on children’s rights, artificial intelligence regulation, and climate justice. She is a member of the ISO’s Environmental Management Committee’s Youth Leadership Group. Which for the first time in the Committee’s history, is training and empowering young people from all across the world to participate in international environmental standards development work.
Rachel serves as the Executive Director of Clean Future, an organization that aims to pass clean energy legislation across the United States. Clean Future’s impact includes 100 pieces of written testimony in support of clean energy bills and against fossil fuel bills, 80 public comments for clean energy initiatives, 75 one pagers that highlight local through federal climate policy, and over 300 clean energy and fossil fuel bills tracked.
Regarding children’s rights she focuses on combating child labor policy rollbacks in the United States and basic education. She is a member of 100 Million Campaign USA’s Secretariat and the organization’s Internal Lead and representative to the Campaign to End US Child Labor. She has previously worked for Global Campaign for Education – United States as an intern where she advocated for basic education policy domestically and internationally. Finally, Rachel currently sits on the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights’ Speak Truth to Power Youth Advisory Board where she is developing climate related programming.
