Coastal Guardians for Connewarre’s Rivers, Wetlands and Lakes

24 January @ 10:00 am - 9 April @ 2:30 pm AEDT

Coastal Guardians for Connewarre’s Rivers, Wetlands and Lakes

We’re focusing on 10 priority wetlands around Australia, working with Traditional Owners, local communities, and other collaborators to restore the healthy balance of these important environments.

Embark on a mission to safeguard the pristine aquatic landscapes around Lake Connewarre. Join us in hands-on activities such as:

  • litter clean-ups
  • invasive species weeding
  • and educational workshops.

Our focus is on preserving the vitality of Bellarine’s coastal ecosystems. Lake Connewarre, an essential nexus, connects various waterways, and our efforts extend beyond preservation — we aim to revive and sustain these coastal habitats. As we journey through our initiative, we explore different waterway landscapes — from coastal wetlands and coastal woodlands to ocean, wetland waterways, and rivers & lakes.

This series of waterway terrains allows us to delve deeper into the unique challenges and opportunities presented by each type of waterway, all the while contributing to the overarching goal of preserving the interconnectedness of our aquatic environments.

Experience the beauty, preserve the vitality, and join us today in being part of this mission.

Join us and help protect and restore wetlands, so that these special environments can continue to do the vital work they do to ensure that we all have clean air, fresh water, and safe futures. This project would not be possible without the support of our major partner, Chevron Australia.

Roll up your sleeves and get ready to become a hero!

A call to action for Ocean, Wetlands & Rivers

The future of Australia’s ocean, wetlands and rivers is in our hands. At CVA, we create opportunities for anyone, anywhere, to take practical actions and Sea The Change!

Over the next 5 years, we are committing to:

  • Activating a community of people to remove 30 tonnes of rubbish from entering the environment.
  • Continue to work with CSIRO to expand their National Plastic Pollution Baseline Survey across the country.
  • Improve biodiversity, climate resilience, blue carbon storage potential, and habitat for our hero species on 14 wetlands in 6 capital cities and 3 regional centres.
  • Working alongside and supporting 80 community “care” and First Nations groups to catalyse action for ocean, wetlands and rivers.
