Join us for an engaging evening celebration of World Ocean Day!
This event is about connecting with our community, listening to one another and learning about fascinating research & restoration efforts taking place in the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park.
Everyone that is interested in learning more about their big blue backyard is invited.
Join us at Sir Peter Blake Marine Education & Recreation Centre in Long Bay for an event featuring:
🌊 An opportunity to meet new people, connect with your community, and learn about restoration projects which are underway in the Gulf.
💦 An open invite to join in on a water activity or group swim (sea state dependent) to reap the benefits of physically connecting with our sea despite winter water temps, set to occur between 5 & 5:15 pm, coinciding with sunset at 5:12 pm.
🐟 This will be followed by warm showers for those that need them, and an offering of hot drinks and warm food inside the MERC hall.
🐳 The seminar portion of the event will start at 6:30 with plenty of time for questions and networking before and after.
Presentations will feature insight from marine scientists, community leaders and other passionate people in the marine conservation & restoration space.
More details on guest speakers and presentations will be added to our Facebook event page.
