World Oceans Day 2026: Labuan Marine Museum

The World Oceans Day 2026 Program, themed “REIMAGINE: Beyond The World We Know, A New Relationship With Our Ocean,” is organized by the Labuan Marine Museum. This initiative serves as an effort to support environmental sustainability and empower the community in preserving the nation’s marine treasures.

World Oceans Day is celebrated globally on June 8th every year by the UN organization, UNESCO.

The Labuan Marine Museum was selected as the venue for the World Oceans Day 2026 program to conserve the coastline and encourage the public to protect the environment. This ensures that cleanliness and beauty are maintained along the beaches, especially as it is a protected island free from fishing activities and the like.

This program is conducted in collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL), the Department of Environment WP Labuan, and the Labuan Corporation. It involves 32 student participants from UMSKAL and a secretariat of 21 people.
