About This Event

Celebrating World Oceans day by taking part in the seminar on marine protected areas: establishment of the ampic: cascais-sintra-mafra community-initiated marine protected area.
Marine Protected Areas play a vital role in the conservation of marine ecosystems, the protection of biodiversity, the restoration of degraded habitats and the promotion of a balanced relationship between human activity and the sustainability of the ocean. Around the world, these areas deliver ecological, social and economic benefits, contributing to coastal resilience and the promotion of sustainable fisheries, responsible tourism and environmental education.
Students from secondary School Quinta do Marquês present 2 stands:
A)stand 1: 8th grade: exhibition of work carried out as part of the professor luis saldanha marine park at esqm (national park, biosphere reserve, 2025); exhibition of marine literacy activities from the publication “with feet on land or in the sea! … science in the air!”, by esqm, and the algamar project using the ecobiolabs methodology.
B)stand 2: 10th grade:
-pupils will give an introduction to the problems arising from microplastic pollution in the sea; they will run an ‘environmental’ mini-bingo game for a younger audience; and they will facilitate a game via a mobile app for an older audience.
