Ocean Futures Lab: A Paint Night in Edmonton

Join us for Ocean Futures Lab: A Paint Night Event – a free, all-ages community creative evening exploring our relationship with water through painting, poetry, letters and conversation.

Presented by ECHOFORM × Global Shapers in celebration of Ocean Week Canada and World Ocean Day, this relaxed, high-energy evening invites you to paint, write, reflect, and connect with others through creativity. No experience needed, just curiosity.

We’ll be exploring water as more than something “out there.” From rivers and lakes to oceans and tap water, we’ll look at how everything is connected, and how water carries memory, climate stories, identity, and imagination.

The evening features a 20-minute facilitated speaker panel on water, climate justice and community connection to local and global water systems, followed by 70 minutes of creative workshop time. Panelists include Amy Charles (Indigenous Knowledge & Relations Specialist, Ocean Wise), Jenet Dooley (Wetland Ecologist, Alberta Biodiversity Monitoring Institute), and Nicholas Menon (Professional Engineer and Supervisor of Cost Estimating, Enbridge).

Selected works will be featured in a community zine titled Love Letters to Water, published digitally and exhibited in person at ECHOFORM’s October 2026 Artivism Cohort Showcase. Every participant receives a certificate.
