1 June - 10 June

Event Series Event Series (See All)

Get ready for a remarkable journey as the Miami World Ocean Celebration returns to South Florida, hosted by Blue Scholars Initiative and ARTSail. This immersive, 9-day event will showcase inspiring activities, environmental awareness, art installations, and community engagement, all dedicated to celebrating and protecting our ONE world ocean.

On this special occasion, Miami transforms into a hub for ocean conservation, blending creativity, education, and action. From beach cleanups and youth workshops to art exhibitions and public panels, the event will offer something for everyone, encouraging deeper connections to the ocean and highlighting the importance of safeguarding its future.

This year’s World Ocean Celebration is a multi-day, multi-disciplinary event. The festivities kick off on May 30, with a youth ocean art reception, exhibiting creations that seamlessly blend traditional art forms with innovative technologies, followed by engaging panel discussions and ocean-themed film screenings. Throughout the week, attendees will engage in specially curated programming designed to foster dialogue about marine conservation and expand connections between scientific, activist, and cultural networks.

The celebration will culminate on World Ocean Day at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in a community-led activation to showcase ocean literacy and conservation, emphasizing how individual actions can create collective impact.

There are many ways to engage with the World Ocean Celebration, whether you’re looking to participate in an art installation, attend a beach cleanup, or listen to experts discuss pressing ocean-related issues. Events include a guided nearshore reef snorkel, live music, film screenings, and family-friendly activities aimed at fostering environmental stewardship among participants of all ages.

Art and music lovers alike can dive into Ocean Art as participating artists showcase powerful works inspired by ocean themes. These installations and performances will be exhibited across various locations, inviting all of Miami to reflect on the ocean’s importance.

For those interested in education and advocacy, the Celebration will feature thought-provoking talks from marine biologists, environmental activists, and conservationists. These discussions will focus on how climate change, pollution, and unsustainable fishing practices threaten our oceans – and how we can help reverse the damage.
