This year, on the occasion of World Ocean Day, a representative of the A.I.P.U. Association (Association for Sustainable Development) will be in the Arctic with the Micromar project (micromar.org) to search for microfibres and microplastics in the sea and to acquire skills as future ambassadors of the Arctic Ocean, guests of the Gate to the Artic Association. The initiative is supported by the University of Naples DISTAR with the collection of coastal sands, the Caboto Foundation of Gaeta, and by the Lega Navale Italiana Section of Sperlonga. The route on an equipped sailing boat includes departure from Tromsø, called "the gateway to the Arctic" towards Bear Island (in Norwegian Bjørnøya) which is located halfway between the North Cape and the main island of Spitsbergen in the Arctic Ocean
