Reproduction under water – astonishing ways to produce offspring

8 June @ 1:30 pm - 5:30 pm CEST

On International Oceans Day, everything at the Zolli Zoo is about marine life. In and around the vivarium, visitors can enjoy a special program titled ” Reproduction Underwater – Amazing Ways to Produce Offspring .” Marine creatures reproduce in a variety of ways. Cardinalfish, for example, incubate their young in their mouths, and male seahorses carry their offspring to term. Regardless of their strategies, successful reproduction requires intact habitats. Therefore, this day also focuses on the importance of protecting the oceans.

Afternoon activities

1:30 – 5:30 p.m., in the Vivarium and at the main entrance

  • Contest and craft booth: Explore how fish reproduce—and why their protection is so important. You can then stick the collected fish pictures on the wall.
  • Booth for the WWF Basel Region’s “Salmon Comeback” project: Play a game and win a small prize. You can also color in a picture.
  • Infomobile Vivarium for young and old
