Wetlands and Waterways of Moreton Bay

24 January @ 9:00 am - 6 March @ 2:30 pm AEST

Wetlands and Waterways of Moreton Bay

Moreton Bay is the gateway to our local ocean, wetlands and waterways so come along and help contribute to the health of this amazing natural wonder we can all access.

CVA is committed to doing what we can to help these incredibly important areas here in Brisbane.

Through our partnerships we have events running on a regular basis in Brisbane and Moreton Bay. Come along to events focused on helping sensitive areas such as RAMSAR listed melaleuca and mangrove wetlands while also exploring and learning about the important role the play the larger marine environments of the Brisbane river and Moreton Bay.

Learn about native and exotic flora and fauna that inhabit these ecosystems, while contributing to health of these areas.

These ecosystems provide food and shelter for endangered species such as the Water Mouse or Eastern Curlew that need help to protect their habitats. So help us protect these habitats and make a difference while learning, meeting likeminded people and creating a connection with our amazing Moreton Bay and its waterways!

Roll up your sleeves and get ready to become a hero!

A call to action for Ocean, Wetlands & Rivers

The future of Australia’s ocean, wetlands and rivers is in our hands. At CVA, we create opportunities for anyone, anywhere, to take practical actions and Sea The Change!

Over the next 5 years, we are committing to:

  • Activating a community of people to remove 30 tonnes of rubbish from entering the environment.
  • Continue to work with CSIRO to expand their National Plastic Pollution Baseline Survey across the country.
  • Improve biodiversity, climate resilience, blue carbon storage potential, and habitat for our hero species on 14 wetlands in 6 capital cities and 3 regional centres.
  • Working alongside and supporting 80 community “care” and First Nations groups to catalyse action for ocean, wetlands and rivers.
