Clean and Green – Reviving the Port’s Wetlands

24 January @ 9:00 am - 24 March @ 2:30 pm ACDT

Clean and Green – Reviving the Port’s Wetlands

The waters in and around the Port River and Barker Inlet estuaries are like nowhere else.

Within the estuaries you’ll find mangroves, mudflats, saltmarshes and seagrass meadows. All of which provide incredibly important services to the local wildlife and humans alike. Over the summer months we will ‘sea the change’ by being the change.

We’ll be rolling up our sleeves and giving back to this precious area through a range of activities and events like:

  • beach and wetland clean-ups to tackle plastic pollution
  • mulching and watering at Magazine Creek Wetlands to keep our seedlings happy and healthy
  • weeding of invasive plants from sensitive saltmarsh ecosystems.

If you’re looking at getting involved look no further than our action-packed summer here at CVA!

What better way to give back to our environment, spend time in nature and meet like-minded individuals passionate about protecting our planet.

Roll up your sleeves and get ready to become a hero!

A call to action for Ocean, Wetlands & Rivers

The future of Australia’s ocean, wetlands and rivers is in our hands. At CVA, we create opportunities for anyone, anywhere, to take practical actions and Sea The Change!

Over the next 5 years, we are committing to:

  • Activating a community of people to remove 30 tonnes of rubbish from entering the environment.
  • Continue to work with CSIRO to expand their National Plastic Pollution Baseline Survey across the country.
  • Improve biodiversity, climate resilience, blue carbon storage potential, and habitat for our hero species on 14 wetlands in 6 capital cities and 3 regional centres.
  • Working alongside and supporting 80 community “care” and First Nations groups to catalyse action for ocean, wetlands and rivers.
