Gerselle is an 18-year-old student and environmental advocate who is deeply passionate about advancing climate justice through advocacy. With a focus on intersectional environmentalism, she recognises that climate change does not affect everyone equally, and that the voices of frontline communities are often overlooked in conversations about solutions. Her commitment to environmental advocacy began when she first encountered documentaries exposing the devastating consequences of climate change on communities around the world.
Gerselle currently serves as the Grants Coordinator at Re-Earth Initiative, where she coordinated the distribution of $250,000 in grants to climate organisations globally. In this role, she was actively involved in evaluating applications and contributing to the grant distribution process to ensure that funds reached communities on the frontlines of climate impacts. She is also the Vice President for International Relations at Climate Cardinals, an international youth-led nonprofit working to make climate information accessible across languages. There, she helps oversee and support local chapters in South Asia, including reviewing applications and mentoring youths who are building climate education movements in their regions.
Beyond these roles, Gerselle is deeply engaged in sustainable fashion advocacy as the Lead Editor and Researcher at Fashion Parade, a youth collective raising awareness about fashion’s environmental and social impacts. She leads a team of writers, provides editorial direction and manages the publishing schedule across platforms, while also contributing her own articles on sustainability. Her work extends to community engagement, where she helps organise events such as thrift pop-ups and upcycling workshops that encourage people to rethink their consumption habits.
Her dedication to storytelling as a tool for change was recognised when she was awarded 1st place in WWF Singapore’s Young Reporters for the Environment competition, where she showcased her ability to communicate climate issues in accessible ways. For Gerselle, storytelling is a platform to amplify marginalised voices and mobilise collective action.
Outside of her formal advocacy work, Gerselle lives out her environmental values through everyday practices, such as maintaining a vegetarian lifestyle and embracing thrifting as a sustainable alternative to fast fashion. She believes that change begins with both individual choices and collective action, and she continually seeks to inspire others to recognise their own capacity to make a difference.
