Thanet Coast’s World Ocean Day – Margate

Mon 8 June, 10am to 2pm: Thanet Coast’s World Ocean Day – Margate Harbour/VIC. Come and meet the volunteer coastal wardens at an information stand and displays – and hear about how you can help the North East Kent Marine Protected Area.

Mon 8 June, 11am: World Ocean Day Seashore Safari – Margate’s Fulsam Rock Explore Thanet’s chalk rocky shore for the rockpool wildlife of our local marine protected area (Rockpooling for Adults; and not just for 4-14s!; 1.5hrs; donation) Book: thanetcoast.org.uk/events

The SEASHORE SAFARI will explore the chalk reef and rock pools of the Thanet Coast to see what shore life we can see – from crabs & shrimps, fish & shellfish, to anemones & all sorts of colourful seaweed. The Thanet Coast is part of the North East Kent Marine Protected Area – known for its marine life and habitats along the longest continuous stretch of coastal chalk in the country.

The safari lasts for 1.5 hours and provides a chance for adults to go rockpooling, as well as children that we usually cater for! This event is run with the help of the Thanet Coast Project volunteers.
