Happy World Ocean Day 2026!
World Ocean Day catalyses collective action for a healthy ocean and a stable climate.
Every June, World Ocean Day activates millions of children, teens and adults around the world. Together with thousands of youth leaders and organizations that get involved from nearly 200 countries, we are building a collaborative movement for a better future!
Covering 71% of our planet, the ocean connects us all. It regulates our climate, supports incredible biodiversity, and sustains communities across the globe. A healthy ocean is not optional, it is essential to our future.
The 8th of June is a powerful moment to pause and reflect. But protecting the ocean doesn’t begin or end on a single day. It’s an ongoing effort built through everyday choices, collective action, and sustained momentum throughout the year.
Together, we can help shape a future where the ocean is protected, resilient, and thriving.
Strong Marine Protected Areas for Our Blue Planet
This year’s Action Theme highlights the urgent need for strong Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) to safeguard marine ecosystems, restore biodiversity, and build resilience in the face of climate change. When effectively managed and properly supported, MPAs are one of the most powerful tools we have to protect ocean life and preserve essential ecosystems.
Collaborating across the world, we can strengthen ocean protection, which is key to securing the long-term health of our blue planet.

Looking Beyond World Ocean Day
World Ocean Day is just one point in a much bigger journey.
Real impact comes from what happens next – the conversations we continue, the habits we change, and the actions we take in the months ahead.
Through initiatives like the 12 Months of Action, there are opportunities all year to stay involved and make a difference.
One Ocean. One Climate. One Future — Together.
Thank you for being part of the movement.
