Belle (she/her) is a 19-year-old Ocean Science and Marine Conservation student based in Plymouth, UK, whose work and passion centres around public engagement, coastal education, and elasmobranch conservation. She is deeply passionate about sharks and protecting the ecosystems they depend on, and brings a strong commitment to making ocean‑climate action accessible and inclusive for all.

Belle volunteers as a Regional Representative for Surfers Against Sewage, and in early 2026 lead the Plymouth Paddle out Protest- mobilising the people of Plymouth and Devon to take a stand against sewage pollution. She supports campaigns that defend coastlines and waterways from harm, and empower water-using communities. She also volunteers at the National Marine Aquarium, contributing to public engagement and helping visitors connect with both local and international marine life. In addition, Belle serves as a Women in Ocean Science University Ambassador, championing visibility, representation, and opportunities for women and girls pursuing marine science careers.

She is the Hub Leader for The Rockpool Project’s Firestone Bay Hub, where she helps deliver hands‑on coastal education for community groups and people of all ages. Through this role, Belle encourages locals to learn about local biodiversity, and understand how climate and human pressures shape the marine environment. Her work blends science communication, outreach, and conservation- all driven by her belief that meaningful ocean action begins with informed and inspired people.

Belle’s particular passion lies in shark and elasmobranch conservation, and she is dedicated to helping others appreciate these species not as threats, but as vital, vulnerable animals whose protection is essential for healthy ocean. She aims to continue developing educational tools and digital content that amplify shark conservation and connect local communities to global ocean‑climate challenges.

Selected to serve on the World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council, Belle is excited to bring her experience and energy to an international platform. She looks forward to learning more about policy, advocacy, and global ocean leadership, and to using her term to strengthen youth involvement in conservation both nationally and internationally. Belle is committed to ensuring that young people feel empowered and represented in ocean‑climate conversations and she is eager to contribute her voice to the Council’s mission.
