Samintang (she/her), otherwise known as Sammy, is an award-winning storyteller, climate justice leader, and gender-responsive climate policy practitioner who integrates economics, education, and grassroots leadership to advance equitable transitions in Indonesia and beyond. Growing up in Eastern Indonesia, at the heart of one of Indonesia’s major nickel-producing regions, she witnessed firsthand the complex relationship between natural resources, livelihoods, development, and environmental change. Sammy currently serves as the Co-Founder of Semesta Pulse Network, an ecosystem-oriented education platform that bridges evidence, empathy, and empowerment to accelerate inclusive transitions through climate leadership and exchange programs, digital activism, and storytelling.
She is also the Deputy Director of Grantwriting at Climate Cardinals, a global climate education organization focused on making climate action accessible to non-English speakers through large-scale translation and education initiatives. As part of KAICIID’s Dialogue in Action Programme, she is championing the Young Ecology and Faith Action School to accelerate interfaith climate action in Makassar and Jakarta and at the same time implementing Tarbiyah for Climate, an faith-based climate education and action initiative that nurtures ecological knowledge, ethical responsibility, and collective agency among Muslim communities in Indonesia.
Beyond these roles, she is deeply engaged in advancing gender equality through her involvement in the Community of Practice at the Asian-Pacific Resource & Research Centre for Women (ARROW), where she represented youth in the localization and implementation of the Belém Gender Action Plan (2026–2034). She later spoke at the 10th Meeting of the 62nd Session of the UN Human Rights Council during the Interactive Dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights in the context of climate change. She co-designed Faith and Blue Peace for 30×30, an initiative that seeks to transform the global 30×30 conservation target into a shared moral, ethical, and spiritual commitment as part of the 2026 Youth Innovation Challenge, and led youth-focused citizen science in Dubai, UAE, and Makassar, Indonesia.
Sammy currently supports Indonesian government ministries in advancing the development of carbon pricing policies.
